Valencia CF has reached an agreement to extend its relationship with the VCF Mestalla goalkeeper
This Sunday, VCF Mestalla play RCD Espanyol B on the opening matchday of the RFEF Segunda B relegation stage, travelling to the Ciudad Deportiva Dani Jarque for the 12pm kickoff.
"We are eager to get the competition underway, enthusiastic and especially keen to vindicate ourselves after a bad first stage," coach Óscar Fernández told VCF Media ahead of the match.
“We are up against a reserve team, RCD Espanyol B, who have the same profile as us: Young players and some outstanding individuals. It will be a very good game between two second teams who didn't have a good first phase and who want to return to a positive dynamic. We want to continue growing, starting with the positive result,” he added.
RCD Espanyol B placed eighth in Group III-A, with 23 points from 20 games. The last 3 of those points were earned last Wednesday by beating Olot 2-1, in a rescheduled fixture. The Catalan team also have a change in the dugout, with Luis Blanco replacing José Aurelio Gay as coach.
The match against RCD Espanyol B is the first of the 8 games that VCF Mestalla will play in this phase. They will also meet AE Prat, L’Hospitalet and UE Olot.
